Senior Director - Tax Planning

Executive have been appointed by a blue-chip software company headquartered in Dublin to search for a Senior Tax Director focusing on EMEA Tax Planning.

Key responsibilities:

• The Senior Tax Director will manage internal and external resources to implement company tax savings strategies and manage a senior team of tax professionals. • Be an integral partner in the Company’s business decisions to enhance shareholder value by providing tax-related advice globally to all business units. • Directs research, analysis and interpretation of EMEA tax statutes, regulations and other relevant guidance. • Acting as tax lead, or managing subordinate managers to act as tax lead, in all aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures. • Effectively manage (both directly and via team) and execute multiple cross functional projects concurrently. • Directs and ensures the implementation of operational policies through subordinate managers. • Interacts internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy. • Develops broad functional expertise and company knowledge. • Maintain current knowledge of all tax laws affecting Company. • Act as the lead tax contact on various mergers and acquisitions, coordinating with Legal and Corporate Development to ensure acquisition and integration corporate structures are timely reviewed for tax purposes. • Partner and build critical relationships with other internal organizations (Legal, Business Operations, etc.) to provide tax advice and identify tax planning opportunities resulting from changes in business processes or operations. • Manage all aspects of various worldwide tax projects, including analysing relevant tax law for tax planning transactions. • Work with external tax advisors to understand relevant tax rules and their applicability to the Company. • Creating and interpreting financial models to illustrate the tax consequences of various alternatives.


• 10 to 15 years of PQE with a Fortune 500 company, law firm or Big 4. • Strong business acumen and tax technical skills. • Detail oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. • Proven ability to build work with outside advisors. • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. • Proven leadership track record, including people development and project management. • Experience within Big 4, law firm and/or high technology or pharmaceutical industry preferred. • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance preferred. • ACCA / ACA / CIMA, MS/MBA tax or law degree a plus.
